If you haven’t already noticed, the 1200 block of Main Street in Little Rock is closed to traffic until 7 a.m. on Monday. The reason? Not one but two pieces of public art are going up in the SoMa neighborhood this weekend: a groovy asphalt mural covering the entire intersection of South Main and 13th streets — designed by Little Rock artist Kait Culbertson — and a Pride-themed crosswalk at the intersection of South Main and 12th streets.
To encourage foot traffic during the closure, the Downtown Little Rock Partnership is hosting live musical performances from Jett Jano, Shannon Boshears, Rock City Jukebox, Butterfly from New Orleans, Stephan James and Charlie Askew on Saturday; and DJ AJ and P RVNGER on Sunday. Both sets of performances start at 1 p.m. UPDATE: Sunday’s performances have been canceled.
