The Root Cafe is hosting a pre-Halloween “Farmer Trunk or Treat” community event from 3-5 p.m. Sunday, Oct. 29, that will feature free candy, face painting and farmer vendor booths. The Facebook event page says the get-together gives guests an opportunity to “meet and greet some of our wonderful farmers, vendors and neighbors.”
Additionally, The Root has recently rolled out a new fall/winter seasonal dinner menu from chef Jonathan Arrington that includes chicken and dumplings with sweet potato gnocchi, roasted winter squash lasagna and “new editions of Root classics such as meatloaf, pulled pork and hot fried chicken with berbere ranch.” You can find the full menu here.
The Root Cafe is located at 1500 Main St. Its hours are 8 a.m.-8 p.m. Tue.-Sun. The dinner menu is available from 5-8 p.m.
