The Jacksonville, North Little Rock and Benton police departments soon will release mobile apps for phones and tablets.
The apps will allow users to see inmates in jail, submit photo or video tips anonymously, receive emergency messages and find contact information, maps and information on sex offenders and missing children.
The apps should allow transmission of information specific to geographic areas and provide links to other social media outlets for the police departments.
A news release emphasizes the apps are not intended “replace existing forms of communication.”
The apps are available for Apple and Android operating systems. They’ll be free at the usual sources. The North Little Rock app is still in development and a completion date wasn’t given.
