Democratic attorney general candidate Paul Suskie today announced that he secured the endorsement of Hershel Gober, who was the U.S. secretary of veterans’ affairs during the Clinton administration.

This comes on the heels of the statement Suskie issued on Tuesday indicating that he would create an “office of veterans advocacy” if elected to the attorney general’s office. Suskie also was recently involved in pushing the legislation that passed in last week’s special session restricting protests at military funerals.

It’s clear that Suskie is making veterans’ affairs a big issue in his race against Robert Herzfeld and Dustin McDaniel. Suskie is in the JAG corps in the Army National Guard and did a tour of duty in Afghanistan.
