Little Rock police officers found two dead bodies, an adult male and a juvenile male, with gunshot wounds while responding to a call for service at 4023 S. Shackleford Road around 5:42 p.m. on Sunday, Aug. 11, according to a press release.
The Little Rock Fire Department also responded to the scene and breached the front door of the Shackleford Road residence, where police found Norberto Cruz, 44, and an 11-year-old boy dead, according to the incident report.
Police have not released the name of the juvenile victim, as Arkansas law prohibits the release of documents or information involving minors.
An investigation is underway and officers remained in the area for “an extended period of time,” according to the Little Rock Police Department’s Twitter account.
The LRPD has asked anyone with information about the homicides to contact the LRPD Major Crimes Division at (501) 371-4660.
The double homicide brings the number of Little Rock homicides in 2024 to 27 according to the LRPD’s count, which was last updated Aug. 5. The official count does not include instances of police officers killing people or fatal hit-and-runs.
