MARIJUANA SALES: Medical marijuana patients in Arkansas spent more than $141 million at the state's dispensaries through the first six months of the year.

The state collected $2.85 million in medical marijuana taxes last month, bringing the state’s total marijuana tax haul to more than $100 million since the state program started.

Since 2019, the state has collected $50,179,896 though a 6.5% sales tax paid by medical marijuana patients and $49,883,116 though a 4% privilege tax that is paid by patients as well as by dispensaries when they make purchases from cultivators. 

In April, the state collected $2,853,721, down slightly from the $2,986,194 collected in the same month last year. 

For the fiscal year, which runs through June 30, tax collections are running even to last year. Through the first 10 months of the fiscal year, medical marijuana taxes have brought in 26,704,691 compared to 26,876,164 through the same period last year.
