The state Board of Election Commissioners held a hearing this morning to take public comments on a proposed rule that would prohibit the use of electronic signatures on voter registration forms.
Last month, the commission opened public comment on an emergency rule that bans e-signatures, taking it a step closer to becoming permanent.
The group On AR Watch was on-hand for the public hearing today and provided a helpful play-by-play of the speakers who showed up today to point out the benefits of electronic signatures over traditional “wet” signatures made by a pen.
The public hearing has ended, but the commission will accept written comments until Sunday evening. The commission will hold a board meeting at 10 a.m. Monday.

We are posted up at the state board of election commissioner’s meeting (just a few moments late – new building!). The room is small – maybe 12 chairs – but it’s standing room only. Internet is a bit spotty, but we’ll do our best.
