‘JESUS CHRIST SUPERSTAR’
FRIDAY 3/1-SUNDAY 3/3. ROBINSON CENTER. $34-$84.

Before Andrew Lloyd Weber’s “Jesus Christ Superstar” — a rock opera about the last week of Jesus’ life — was first performed, it was released in 1970 as a concept album. That’s how good the tunes are. A sung-through musical with no spoken dialogue, the songs had to sustain not only the climactic moments, but also the entire narrative thread, which pays particular attention to Judas, Jesus’ notoriously disloyal follower. The album was so popular that it quickly found its way onto the stage just a year later, often in an unauthorized fashion. Now on its 50th anniversary tour, “Jesus Christ Superstar” has four showings at Robinson Center — 8 p.m. Friday; 2 p.m. and 7:30 p.m. Saturday; and 1 p.m. Sunday. Get tickets here.
