I was up early this morning and read the Democrat-Gazette online, but I didn’t see this article by Seth Blomeley. Maybe it didn’t run in the Northwest Edition.

Now back in the office, I read the print edition and discovered that Blomeley followed up on our Mar. 1 Insider item about Lt. Gov. Bill Halter choosing not to list himself as a co-host for U.S. Sen. Mark Pryor‘s re-election campaign fundraiser, which will take place tomorrow night.

“Halter declined to say if he was thinking about running against Pryor in 2008,” Blomeley wrote.

“I’m focused on being lieutenant governor,” Halter said in an interview Thursday. “That’s my answer. I’m focused on one thing, being lieutenant governor. …

Asked if he supported Pryor’s re-election campaign in 2008, Halter said, “It’s a long way to the election. One thing I saw in my kind of entry into Arkansas politics is that who knows who is going to run. That’s pretty much all I’ve got to say.”

For the record, Halter never returned our calls when we asked for a comment for the Insider item we published last week.
