Pulaski County Judge Barry Hyde issued a burn ban for the county, citing dry outdoor conditions and potential hazards to life and property.

The ban prohibits all outdoor burning, including fireworks, unless a written permit from the county’s Office of Emergency Management has been issued.

Any violation of the order is a Class A misdemeanor and the ban is enforceable by all law enforcement, fire officials and the county’s Office of Emergency Management.

According to the state Department of Agriculture, 35 Arkansas counties have burn bans in place, including most of southwest and southeast Arkansas. A department map also shows the northern half of the state under a moderate risk for wildfires and the southern half of the state at a high risk for wildfires.
